Congrats! You’ve made the plunge and purchased a new garage door for your home. Whether you are a first time purchaser or you’ve been through it a time or two, there are a few things to consider before installation day.

Garage Door Pre-Installation Checklist

To ensure that our technicians can do their work efficiently, safely, and in a timely manner, we’ve compiled a list of things to keep in mind before your scheduled appointment.

Clean & Clear Out Garage

To give installers plenty of space to work, it’s important to tidy up and move things out of the way. This includes any storage items, bikes, garden supplies, or other junk! Our general rule of thumb is to make sure nothing is stored in the space at least 5-6 feet back from the opening. You could use it as an excuse to purge old items and do a little spring cleaning!

On the day of installation, ensure all cars and other valuable items are completely out of the way to avoid any potential damage.

Minimize Potential for Accidents

Although our technicians are trained professionals, garage doors are extremely heavy and can be very dangerous. Removing an old garage door and installing a new one requires power tools, spring loaded items, and other big components. Because of this, it’s important to keep children and pets away from the garage area at all times during installation to avoid potential disasters.

Remote Control Programming (Homelink)

Does your car have a built-in garage door control like Homelink? Our technicians are happy to assist you with getting this set up and working properly. Just make sure you have access to all vehicles that will need to be connected at the time of installation to avoid additional visits!

Have Payment Method Ready

At the end of the installation process, we ask that you have someone there to ensure payment is squared away. If you paid your deposit with a credit card, the remaining balance will be charged to your credit card when the product is installed, unless you provide the installer with another form of payment such as a check or different credit card number while he is there.
